North Coyote Buttes – The Wave
The Wave is located on the Colorado Plateau, near the Utah and Arizona border. The area is a gallery of gruesomely twisted sandstone, resembling deformed pillars, cones, mushrooms and other odd creations. Deposits of iron claim some of the responsibility for the unique blending of color twisted in the rock, creating a dramatic rainbow of pastel yellows, pinks and reds. Access is limited to 20 people each day. In May of 2009 two friends and i were fortunate to be winners of the daily lottery and entered the next day. I was going through my old photos and came across this one:
The Center of the Wave in Coyote Buttes in Northern Arizona
We hung out for 4-5 hours, as the day progressed the sun changed the shadows and the clouds moved in resulting in spectacular sky.
